The wood of the maple tree is known as life-giving. The Iroquois consider its sap to be the “honey of life”. This slight sweetness brings with it the qualities of attraction, enticement or the possibility of uniting things: a very positive energy! Maple wood rods are used in particular to attract positive spirits that are helpful in magical rituals. Maple is also the sacred tree of Ani Tsisqua (the bird clan of the Cherokee Native Americans): a log of maple wood was always part of the sacred fire of this tribe.
